Limited Liability

What about Liability?

How much protection do you need?

Movers must assume some level of liability for your belongings when they move them. The amount of liability depends on the level of value protection you select. You may choose from four liability options. The greater the liability assumed by the mover, the more costly the option is for you, the customer.

In selecting a liability option, you should consider the following:

· The value of the belongings being moved;
· The susceptibility of those belongings to damage;
· The degree of risk you are willing to accept; and
· The cost of the protection.

We recommend that you contact your insurance company to cover you belonging in transit by adding a special rider to your policy. However, not all insurance companies can provide this coverage. Our company automatically provides sixty cents per pound coverage, which is a very minimal amount. We can offer you extra coverage; our Limited Liability is available based on the declared value of your piano or household items.

Below you will see two comparison examples followed by a brief description of each option.

Example #1 You have an expensive lamp with a declared value of $500. It weighs 5 pounds. If it should break during shipment:

Option 1 pays you $.60 cents per pound or $3 - Coverage is provided at no cost.

Option 2 pays you $500 less the $300 deductible or $200 - Premium is $5.00 ($1.00 per $100)

Option 3 pays you $500 - Premium is $6.00 ($1.20 per $100)

Example #2 You have a grand piano with a declared value of $20,000. It weighs 750 pounds. If it should be damaged beyond repair:

Option 1 pays you $.60 cents per pound or $450 – Coverage is provided at no cost.

Option 2 pays you $20,000 less the $300 deductible or $19,700 - Premium is $200 ($1.00 per $100)

Option 3 pays you $20,000 – Premium is $240 ($1.20 per $100)

OPTION 1  Basic Value Protection
Option 1 provides $.60 per pound, per loss or damaged article. There is no charge; it is included with the move.

OPTION 2  Replacement Cost Coverage, with deductible
Option 2 provides for damage repaired to your satisfaction, payment for the lost or damaged article (less the $300 deductible), or replacement of the lost or damaged article for any amount over the $300 deductible. The $300 deductible applies to the entire shipment rather than each individual article.

OPTION 3  Replacement Cost Coverage, with no deductible
Option 3 provides for damage repaired to your satisfaction, payment for the lost or damaged article, or replacement of the lost or damaged article.
